Blue Moon Beading

Because YOU ARE as BEAUTIFUL as the Moon

NorDakana & Selburose Patterns

NorDakana & Selburose Patterns ✵

These patterns are called NorDakana & Selburose

The earrings first pictured are in the NorDakana pattern. They were created to represent all the great things of Western North Dakota & Eastern Montana and their people. The round bead in the center is Jet is a type of lignite coal. Lignite is mined in both North Dakota & Montana. Jet jewelry, with its rich history and enduring allure has been worn by Queen Victoria, Sarah Bernhardt, Lillie Langtry, Edward VII, and Alexandra of Denmark. The feathers are pheasant feathers from a hunting excursion that my son, Vinnie & my husband, Kevin go on every autumn together. The other colors in the beads are colors of both states. Colors that can be found in the dirt on the plains, in the rising river bluffs, in the evening sunset that dances across their horizons and in fall crops waving in the wind while waiting to be harvested.

The next bracelet is of the Selburose pattern, which is more commonly known as the Norwegian Star pattern. I created this bracelet to represent the Norwegian & Scandinavian cultures of this area. It has a chain and lobster clasp to be adjustable for a variety of sizes.

Some of the history of the star is that it can be traced back to ancient cultures.

The pattern was popularized in Norway by Marit Guldsetbrua Emstad in the 1850.

The eight-pointed star motif has been found in many cultures, including Babylonian, Egyptian, Islamic, and Native American.                 The pattern may have been originally inspired by Coptic and Byzantine art or the Sumerian Star of Ishtar.
